Allow me to introduce myself: My name is Sunny Burleson and I am the summer (2019) Marketing intern here at American Airlines Center!
Born and raised right down the road Arlington, I could not be more honored and excited to spend my summer at a place so special to not only myself but the whole Dallas / Fort Worth metroplex.
I was 10 years old the first time I ever walked into the American Airlines Center... the Cheetah Girls were in town and I - for one - would not have missed that for the world. That night I had been bitten by the concert “bug” so to speak and since then I’ve been lucky enough to see Maroon 5, Carrie Underwood, Justin Bieber, Pink, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Garth Brooks and so many others right under the same roof. With that being said, this building has been home to some of my favorite memories with my family and friends growing up.
The “bug” lead me to Music City, USA! I call Nashville, TN home for 9 months of the year where I study Marketing at Belmont University (I am entering my senior year this fall - woohoo)! My internship at American Airlines Center is not my first; I’ve had the privilege to intern with a few other companies in Nashville including Essential Broadcast Media PR and the historic Ryman Auditorium (the former home to the Grand Ole Opry).
Both the Mavs and the Stars seasons have come to a close, so contrary to the typical whirlwind first few weeks of an internship term here at American Airlines Center, the first show I’ll work is still a few weeks away... but no shows or games doesn’t mean there isn’t work to do! There is a lot of work that goes into making sure Dallas feels like home for the artists and their crews even if just for one night, and I am already loving working with a team that does this so well.
If I told my 10 year old self what I get to do now she wouldn’t be able to wipe the smile off of her face... and who am I kidding I can’t even now!
Let’s get this show on the road!
